A LAKESIDE RETREAT IMMERSED IN NATURE'S CHANGING RHYTHMS.

Shaped by sweeping lake vistas and the verdant contours of its site, Verdantia unfolds as a retreat immersed in the rhythms of nature. Conceived as a six bedroom holiday home in Igatpuri, the residence embraces the changing moods of its surroundings, from mist laden monsoons to sun-drenched spring days. Rooted in the landscape yet contemporary in expression, the home is imagined as a collection of experiences where architecture, water, and greenery remain in constant dialogue, creating an atmosphere of quiet immersion and repose.

CONCEPT & EXECUTION

The design takes shape as a constellation of fragmented yet carefully choreographed volumes dispersed across the site. Rather than existing as a singular monolithic structure, the home is broken into interconnected pockets that enable the landscape to permeate its core. Deconstructed courtyards, landscaped interstices, and open transitions dissolve the boundaries between inside and outside, while a verdant spine stitches the residence together through a sequence of experiences. Generous picture windows and expansive openings frame the lake and distant horizons, ensuring that the changing character of the outdoors remains an omnipresent companion within the dwelling.

SHAPED BY THE LAND

The architecture responds intuitively to the site’s natural contours and expansive views, allowing the home to settle gently into its surroundings while maximising its relationship with the landscape.

A LANDSCAPED SPINE

Threading its way through the residence, the landscaped spine acts as a connective element that unifies the various volumes, creating moments of pause, interaction, and discovery along the journey.

COURTYARDS OF LIGHT AND AIR

Deconstructed courtyards punctuate the blueprint, drawing daylight, ventilation, and pockets of greenery deep into the home. These interstitial spaces lend the residence a porous quality that keeps nature perpetually within reach.

FRAMING THE HORIZON

Large picture windows transform the lake, distant hills, and seasonal shifts into living canvases. Whether draped in monsoon clouds or bathed in spring sunlight, the landscape becomes an integral part of everyday life.

AN IMMERSIVE RETREAT

The infinity edge pool extends towards the horizon, blurring the threshold between architecture, water, and landscape. Together, the built form and its surroundings culminate in a retreat that celebrates stillness, openness, and an enduring connection to place.
