House of Curiosities

AN ODYSSEY OF LUXURY, CRAFT-DRIVEN ENDEAVOURS, AND A MUSEUM OF MOMENTS.

Conceived for a multigenerational family from Kankavli, House of Curiosities marks a new beginning through a home steeped in art, craft, and discovery. Spanning 15,000 square feet across three floors, the residence unfolds as an immersive journey through shifting scales and volumes. Collaborations with Indian artists, designers, and craftspeople transform its spaces into a living collection of installations, objects, and moments of intrigue.

CONCEPT & EXECUTION

The home is composed as a colossal jigsaw of interconnected spaces, anchored by visual continuity. At its heart, a soaring 30-foot volume brings together the living area, foyer, artisanal staircase, water court, and ruby screen. Bridges, jharokhas, and unexpected hideaways extend this sense of exploration, allowing the residence to reveal itself gradually rather than all at once.

A FLURRY OF FOCAL POINTS

Within the living room, a cascading rug by FAZO Project combines multiple weaving techniques, while Harshita Jhamtani’s monumental clay lamp rises through the volume, accentuating its dramatic scale.

CREATURES MIGHTY AND MYTHICAL

Sameer Tawde’s surreal Bird Song and Priyanka Thaker’s Cosmic Disco partition bring an otherworldly presence to the communal spaces, blurring boundaries between art and architecture.

A WORLD UNDER

The water court introduces a playful pause, populated by mythical clay sea creatures that turn circulation into an unexpected moment of discovery.

ARTISANSHIP AT ITS FINEST

A teak balustrade by Rooshad Shroff, embedded with pressed rare flowers, transforms movement between floors into an expression of meticulous craft.

CONNECTION THROUGH AND BETWEEN SPACES

Pivoting glass modules in blush, orange, and ruby filter light across bridges and jharokhas, while concealed spaces such as the terrace hideout and yellow escape room reward curiosity throughout the journey.
