Tango Dreams

DANCING TO ITS OWN BEAT: A HOME IMMERSED IN A VIBRANT MIX OF COLOR AND TEXTURE.

Conceived for a family of three returning to Bombay after years abroad, Tango Dreams celebrates the warmth and familiarity of homecoming. Located in the city’s eastern suburbs, the apartment takes its name from the visual dance that unfolds between colour, texture, pattern, and material. Rustic and modern influences move in tandem, creating a home that feels spirited yet grounded, layered yet cohesive.

CONCEPT & EXECUTION

The existing builder-grade blueprint was reworked through considered spatial interventions rather than sweeping changes. Dramatically grained timber, monochromes, patterned surfaces, and measured bursts of colour establish a visual rhythm across naturally lit spaces. Shifting floor finishes and permeable thresholds subtly distinguish functions while allowing the apartment to remain connected.

A VISUAL THREAD

Materiality becomes the thread binding the rooms together. Timber lends warmth, monochromes temper the palette, and unexpected colour accents animate individual moments without disrupting the larger composition.

TRANSFIGURING CANVASES

Beige vitrified tiles transition into patterned carpets and warm laminates to gently signal changing zones. At the apartment’s heart, an open living and dining space gains a heightened sense of depth through an expansive mirrored wall.

ROOM FOR ALL!

The kitchen responds to the mother and daughter’s shared love for baking. A glass and aluminium partition extends into a breakfast counter, maintaining a transparent connection with the communal spaces while giving the kitchen its own identity.

TANGOING WITH RESTRAINT!

Private spaces quieten the rhythm. The master suite layers a canopy bed, oak rafters, and monochromes, while dusty rose softens the daughter’s room. The guest room shifts effortlessly between roles, its Murphy bed disappearing to transform the space into a yoga and ballet studio when guests are away.

I told MuseLAB that I wanted to feel like I am on vacation every single day - and they truly delivered.
