Street Oasis

Street fashion store interiors are often chaotic and neglected. The cost and space economics of a boutique store is such that the focus is more on inventory. The brief given to us was an oxymoron - we were required to create a simple space, that was organized and could hold large inventory. Essentially controlled chaos. The space located at Kemps Corner known as Soap Opera, is a narrow street like 300sq.ft space with a loft that holds inventory. Our main priority was to make the space feel appealing and organize the clothing display.

With an open central path with display on either side and some display down the path towards the back was our best bet in ensuring that we are able to accommodate the large inventory. The trial rooms towards the back were gutted and redone in a minimalistic way. The racking display system has been customized allowing flexibility of adding and removing the glass shelves as and when required. The previous vinyl flooring was ripped out and the flooring was tiled in a paver like fashion to allow for a street like shopping experience. The walls are painted in a blast of teal and white. A simple shelving system in teak veneer has been added to the front of the store for display of accessories. A colourful yet rustic installation hangs above

The combination of colours, textures and materials is balanced and comforting. The store reunites various styles. It has industrial fixtures combined with warm veneer details and modern elements. The facade of the store has been cleaned up, a canopy has been added and the doors painted a sunshine yellow. The space is simple at the same time inviting and provides for a functional shopping environment.
