First Social

Social housing is synonymous with neglect and anti-social behaviour. It more often than not tends to have a stigmatized image. The intent of this project's proposal was to capture and connect the landscape of Dehradun to the building blocks of this 40 acre plot for a better quality of life. It was essential to remodel a traditional housing block – by creating open spaces and enclosing views – enabling light and air to filter in.

The design brief required us to incorporate three apartment typologies: EWS (economically weaker section), LIG (lower income group) and LMIG (lower middle income group) in the construction area ratio of 1:2:4.
